Ok i have a guy checking on a 90 Eagle Talon he said he knows where one is and he's junking it out, hopefully it is a 4g63, it should be a 6 bolt right made before 93 correct? Anyhow, if it is i am gonna rip it apart bore it over .XX to get it cleaned up; new pistons, rods, rings. Have the head ported polished and have the valves cut 3 degrees. Ah well the basic rebuild plus a little extra. My dad is still laughing at me for blowing the thing up, hey now i can get that big 16G...LOL

Just make sure eveything is unbolted (the braces to the block) and yank em out.... be rough with em and they'll pop right out ;)

Good to see another Eastern KY DSM'er. I am from the Ashland area... sucks bout ur engine luck had about the same thing happen to me this past summer.... maybe we can meet up sometime this spring

I blew my 7-bolt in my 93' Talon ES, so 6-bolt was very first choice. Picked up a used block on ebay for under $500.00, and did a rebuild on it. It was in perfect order. A great deal I thought, also picked up the 2G ported/polished heads fully overworked for $650.00. Look around, and you can find a great deal. Good luck on your project and search. I threw a rod on mine, sent the rod and balance shaft out the back end also.

Thats not a bad deal. I guess I should go and buy these 6 bolt long blocks down here and Ebay them. I picked up a complete turbo long block for 175. Im going with 95 pistons, getting rid of the 1g ones. I looked at the bearings in my motor I bought. They had very little wear. No copper was showing. I guess the block had a recent rebuild because you could still see the honing in the cylinders. I was surprised. Oh ya, for anybody who has'nt noticed. There are 4 JE pistons for a 4g63, two bad ones, two good ones with 1g rods on Ebay. Check them out.

Yeah sure man that would be awesome, if my car is up by then, having this rebuild is making money dam tight. I was born in ashland and raised there for the first 9 years of my life up on Ellington Run off of Big Trace over in Cannonsburg... Where abouts you from...PM me...

Today i went and checked on some used motors today that are COMPLETE w/ turbo and everything. The guy i was talking to can get me one out of a 98 Eclispe with 24,000 miles on the motor with a 12 month 12,000 mile warrenty. And to be honest with you, if something did happen..IMO i would bet it would be before the the 12,000 or 12 months was up.. He got me a price of 2800 plus, GOOD CORE (MINE IS BLOWN) w/tax and w/frate for 3500 or something like that. The guy who can sell it to me has a dyno so i can get some numbers posted on here after the Rebuild. :D

Don't go with the 2g Motor. go with a 1g 6 bolt. you can get it cheaper than that. You can get rebuilt 6 bolts for less money than that. I work at Autozone, and a 1g motor 6 bolt is 2800 plus 350 core. Thats a long block. But I have a hook up, I can get you a long block for half that price. 800 Bucks for a short block w/o core, plus 1000 for a rebuilt cyl head w/o core. 1800 bucks, and you can keep your old one. Shipping will prolly be about 3-400 depending on location. 1yr warrenty and they are good. Or you can simply go to http://www.ffwdconnection.com/ and they build nice motors.

There is a major amount of work needed to put a 6bolt in a 2g..But it's worth it!The 1g heads are better, the whole thing is stronger. Plus they're readily available. Check the DSM trader.

I'll check in on that, I know everyone is recommending a 6bolt but the work involved to get it right is over my head. I am quite sure that for what i am doing later upgrade to a t28 that the 7bolt should hold up as long as i am only givin it hell on the weekends and working on it during the week...

OK guys got the motor pulled out yesterday and havent had time to post untill now as to the REAL damage other than what i had posted. Once i pulled the motor out with the cherry picker i set it on the ground and i unbolted the trans and took off the flywheel and clutch and pressure plate and throwout bearing. Looks like they were scored a bit... The TRANS is still good though as far as i can tell. I could really see now the balance shaft sticking out of the motor. I started taking off all the brackets, the sensors(knock and crank off) Then removed the timing belt cover. DAMN... the belt was wrapped up around the crank and had parts of the sprocket in the path of the crank sprocket. So i then removed the water pump, oil pump. OK seemed ok other than the huge ass hole from the balance shaft. HMMM... heres a hammer, I KNEW THE BLOCK WAS NOT GOOD...
SO... I hit the balance shaft and the crank popped down and was hanging on by the rear seal.. Crap, i REALLY killed the thing. I hauled the scrap metal down to the junkyard. I ordered a reman 7 bolt (YES I KNOW...) but the warrenty on it was 12 month 12,000 miles and atleast i know i have all new parts though. And if it does go i am sure it will be before 12,000 miles. I'll take it easy on this one. Once i get about 500 plus miles on the motor i will dyno it and post the numbers. Then just take it real easy during the week and play with it on the weekend.
