Field car

So basically, I lived in an apartment complex in a good neigborhood and my 94 TSI AWD with a bad motor and cough 85k miles cough got vandalized. Slashed tires, broken 'anything plastic/flimsy', so I stored it at my father in laws for the last 6 months while I bought tires and put a motor together at my own pace.
What i'm looking to figure out is:
How bad do the mice attack these cars? I know for german cars it's pretty bad since they supposedly used peanut oil in the wiring but how about DSM's? Mine has a big ass rat inside the car and theres rat shit everywhere.... thoughts?

My car before i bought it sat in a feild for years and was a mice hotel. it was so bad i had to remove and clean all heater a/c vents the fan would spin and not blow due to all the fins covered in what looked to be the biggest nest i had ever scene. that being said they did not seem to eat on any wires that i could tell and i had the complete insides out of the car plus dash. I do know that a car left uncovered seems to have less of a mice population but that is only what I noticed from personal experiences if you leave moth balls in the car or mouse and rat poison you should have no problems.

was actually working on a 1985 passat today. a mouse had packed the exhaust full with bird seed. later we found the mouse in the airbox.

Moth balls in the engine compartment dryer sheets in the interior and a bag for rat poison under the car is what I found best.

Check every crack. Found them under the seats, in the tail lights, under the spare tire, and in the fan was the big hangout. Try putting peppermint oil in your car mice do not like that stuff and it smells good too
