I'm Putting A Fiberglass Hood On My Car. I Was Told To Put Hood Pins On Because It Could Fly Off. I Hate Hood Pins But If I Need Them I'll Put T Hem On. I Have Seen People With Fiberglass, And Carbon Fiber Hoods Without Hood Pins. What Should I Do??

To be on the safe side, I'm sure most people will say to use hood pins. I would also recommend using hood pins simply because I would rather have those than having the chance of messing up my new hood and winshield and other stuff when it comes flying off!:notgood:

Use hood pins because at high speeds air tends to get under the hood and you will see it vibrating. This excessive movement could cause the hood to come loose from the hood latch. Just buy the hood pins with lock assemblys (they tend to be shorter and have more security).

I did not use hoodpins on my CF hood on my previous 1g, And never had ANY problems at all.. My friend on the other hand was just doing normal driving and HAD hoodpins but the pins must not have been in for some reason, And it blew up on him.. Took out the windshield/hood/Roof.

Let me rephrase what I said earlier, use hood pins but install them correctly and make sure you actually know how to use them! Haha, I'm just messing with your friend man:thumb:

Definitely get hood pins. I had a CF hood on my prelude and on my way to get the pins installed, I was on the highway just doing 60 and the hood was already shaking. Then I would also go through the car washes with the big hot air jets, and the hood would shake crazy stylee. I can't imagine what would happen if I didnt have the pins... :p

i would say it is a good idea to use hood pin i have a buddy that has a 92 honda civic with a fiberglass hood and he refused to use them about a week after he put it on it flew open and guess where its at now needless to say he had to replace both front fenders and the hood windshield well basically the whole front clip of the car cause he hit a parked car
