Looks can be deceiving. They look lighter than they are. Since they are T-Tops, they have extra reinforcements. Kinda like a convertable. Only the non turbo models came available without T-Tops. Curb weight is around 2880lbs on the turbo model, and about 2650lbs on the non turbo non t-top model. Stock HP for the US spec Mr2 is 200hp and 168lb ft tq, so NO they dont do 0-60 in 5 seconds stock, and NO they wouldn't KILL a H22 Prelude (but it would win). Back when I had my 1G AWD, I test drove a lightly modded MR2 Turbo. My car had similar mods, but mine was definately faster. I'm not talking out of the hole either, I'm talking about from a roll where traction is equal. Don't get me wrong, the MR2 is a bad ass car with tons of potential, but it is often overhyped. Now the JDM MR2 turbo is a different story. 245hp stock ???lb ft tq, LSD, closer ratio tranny, etc. Those are the ones that pull low 14's/high 13's straight out of the factory. Every other country gets the good ****...
oh, and stock for stock, a MR2 turbo DEFINATELY WONT KILL our DSMs. The US spec MR2 turbos run low 15's stock, so it depends on who is driving
