So I am having an issue in this 100 degree + weather were if I park my car without leaving the fans running for a few minutes my coolant temp will spike to 3/4 mark on the gauge.

I don't delive I am leaking any compression as I have a new headgasket, arps, and I am reading 175-180 in all cylinders with little variation. +/- 1-3 psi between adjacent cylinders. I also don't have a puking overflow or any oil in coolant or water in oil.

So I am wondering, is it possible to run just the fans on a turbo timer like deal?
 
I have never heard anyone trying this, the turbo timer would be a pain to figure out how to make it only run the fans. good luck tho
 
I was hoping there might be a way to do it with a relay or switch or something. I found a bunch of wall switches that have timers but nothing that could easily be mounted in car for under 100$ yet. Plus all of the stuff I have found for cars is like 10-30 seconds or so for C02 or N20 sprayers
 
Like i said i havent heard of it but i wouldnt put it past someone to figure something out. Good luck leme know what you end up with!
 
The easiest way would be to just run a switched positive wire to the fan and a negative wire aswell and that way you can flick the switch and it comes on when YOU want it to!!! Also fuse the positive aswell just in case,
its really simple and this is how many of my drift and race friend run there extra fans!

That would work BUT he want to run the fans while the car is off for a set time not leave them running and kill the battery because he forgot to comeback. Im not saying it cant be doen with a timer.. but i just have never heard of anyone trying it it wouldnt be a simple plug it in thing either.WTF

Have you triued running coolent additives like becool ect, they run a littler cooler than just antifreeze and water it might help with the heat problem. just a sug.
 
+1 for the spal setup. I have one and it works nicely, the only gripe I have is it adds clutter to the engine bay. Other then that, I have been running it for 2 years now with no issues.

Another option would be to wire a double throw switch with a constant on circuit and the other with a power control for the thermostat connection to the fans. Ive done it on a buddies drift machine and found it to be pretty reliable. If you go that route make sure you use properly sized relays! This of course doesn't help the set it and walk away method, but it is another option to try and regulate your temps more during driving, just a thought!
 
Forgive me, but why do you want to cool the water in radiator?

(If the engine isn't running, then your water-pump isn't pumping, so all the fans will do is cool the radiator and not the engine.)

Sounds like you really need a full-fledged turbo timer, instead.
 
Thanks for the link, and spal controller idea. I will look into them.

All a turbo timer will do for me is waste my gas. The car doesn't start to heat up until the engine is shut down with no fans circulating air and cooling the engine compartment.
 
Running the fans does more than enough ATM, I am just looking for something that continue to run them for about 5 minutes after the vehicle parks.

Running the engine for a minute or two after parking would do nothing but accumulate more heat. The car doesnt overheat until you shut down the engine. I am at a loss for the reason why, but a turbo timer would only delay engine shutdown. Thus delaying overheating. But not helping in any way with the issue I am having.
