WOW,

when i bought my car I never imagined it to be like this. I have a 1996 RS and have posted before about my car, since my last post my quarter has gone down .3, i got better tires and am a sweeeet driver now. But seriously people are freaked by my car. I just beat a 240sx manual with cat back. I beat a 94 MUSTANG GT 5.0 a/t by a car lenght in the 1/4. If you dont believe me, request a video and ill do my best to get him to race me again. When I go to the track people are expecting me to run mid to high 16's when i tell them my mods and boy you should see the look on their face when i posted my 15.6 run. I know 15.6 isnt too fast but its good for only spending $500 in performance parts.

OK now to my question, I'm get a STAR stage II by the end of summer and was just wondering what my car would be running after I put it on, Ive heard low 14's but those numbers are based on a normal eclipse running 16.5 soooooo, do you think ill be in the 13's maybe???

And is there any way to check if my car is a factory freak, because i know i shouldnt be running this low with only CAI and exh.

Peace out yo

ohhhh ya....civics suck!

I am hittin up the track this summer. I am 11/11 street racing perfect streak but most of those are me beating up on Hondas. I did beat a 2001 Celica GT I didn't expect tho' and a 3G Eclipse

I pray I have a freak but I doubt it

check the compression on your cylinders to find out if it is a factory freak. :thumb: keep it up!

Not to be a party pooper but Celica GT's aren't that powerful; 140hp & 125ft-lbs... the advantage they have is that they weigh about 300lbs less. Good job on the 3g though, I hate those.

i've heard that the so called "factory freaks" have higher compression rates than the normal 2gnts...if this is so, when you go turbo will this put even more stress on your already stressed engine? Or is your freak engine just accidentally built to handle more compression?

i'm interested in seeing what your 60' and 1/8th times look like....also adding turbo completely changes the car....it is MUCH MUCH harder to get a nice launch out of a turbo car than a NT....chances are you will be looking at high 14's by adding the turbo simply because of traction....so don't be dissapointed if you don't get low 14's for a while, its not that the car isn't fast enough, its simply a matter of traction....good luck on getting there and enjoy yet...there isn't anything like driving a turbo 420a :thumb:

The compression test number is different than compression ratio. All 2gnts have 9.6:1 compression ratio - freak or not. I think the difference has to do with ring wear. At one point my car was freakishly fast for the mods I had. Eventually, I noticed a decrease in performance. My compression test numbers were hovering around 180 or so - which is much less than what you would normally get with brand new rings - somewhere in the 210-220 ballpark.

An engine with good compression test is not a stressed engine - it's a happy engine. It's better to have good compression seal before putting a turbo on. If your compression test results vary drastically, then a adding a turbo is definately not a good idea untill you rebuild it.

That's the situation I'm in right now. It's taken me so long to put togetther this custom turbo system, that my compression is all out of whack now - 160, 185, 180, 165...and it all comes up to 180-185 with a leak down test. My rings are going bad. The car still runs good - I just hit a 15.9 at Atco the other day....but I can tell - it used to be faster.

thanks for clearing that up metaljim, i didnt really know much about the freaks, just goin on heresay...you live in west chester? i live on coatesville like 15 minutes away, small world
