hey whats goin on guys...i just installed my afpr ,i bought it from www.extremepsi.com ..it was pretty easy to mount and it came with every thing needed to install ..the kit goes for 90$ and the afpr was 150$ the kit can be seen below thats the link copy and paste ..my question is the only thing holding the afpr in place is the line going to the fuel rail ..do u guys think its safe ??...cause with the vibration it seem like the line can crack then there will be a huge fuel leak ( not good ) should i make a bracket? i also took a pic ...thank u :dsm:

this is for my 92 talon tsi turbo awd 5 speed with tons of mods

I wouldn't THINK that it would have any issues with engine vibrations, but if I were you I would probably (to be on the safe side) consider mounting the regulator on the firewall or on the strut tower. Get a nice stainless steel line to hook it up and you can rest easy. I researched the Aeromotive AFPR before I got my AFPR (not Aeromotive, btw...) and it seemed as though most people were mounting it on the firewall or strut tower, so keep that in mind.

mine is the exact same set-up and those AN fittings are whay more than strong enough. even w/ the Aeromoitve FPR. just make sure your fittings are not leaking and your Golden. this difference in the pic @ Extremepsi.com is the valve cam cover is removed and there is a Magnus smim in place of the stock intake mani. yeah after i got mine installed it was a huge difference. i liked it. easy, simple and straight to the point install.

Personally I don't think thats its a very good idea to have the fittings holding the weight of the fpr, especially on something such as a fuel line. I prefer mounting the fpr on the firewall and connecting it up with some an line.

I agree, the cost of some nuts bolts and washers to mount the FPR, is less then $3, the cost of something blowin up under your hood, priceless.

I agree with above, I don't like the way it looks. I would just buy the fuel line and another fitting so you can actually bolt it onto something solid.

I mounted my Aeromotive on the firewall to avoid extra engine vibrations.

I bought a kit like that which used earl fittings as well as the same regulator and had it mounted off my rail. The shop that I bought it from had 2 cars come in with the same set up and the fittings cracked and started to leak. They recommended against mounting it off the fuel rail and to mount it on the fire wall. They set me up with some stainless line and new fittings for their cost. After making a simple bracket I moved it to the firewall and feel safer since the roads I travel on are very bumpy and send a lot of vibration through the car.

not saying you guys havn't had bad experiances but i and others here in OKC haven't. so to me and others i know its really not a big deal.

I mounted mine to the firewall as well. I did get a "NO" nod last time I was at the track but they still let me run.

I don't necessarly think its completely wrong to mount it to the engine, I just think its a better idea to have it on something solid such as a firewall. The main reason I personally dont like the idea of the extreme kit is that all the weight of the fpr is supported by the fittings. I couldn't tell from the pics I saw on the dvdt fab website but maybe he has fabbed up some sort of bracket to support the fpr? as I think that would be the best method if you did want it mounted off the engine. With the fittings supporting the fpr it just increases the chances of the fittings coming lose etc.

i know:thumb:

i guess in the midwest it'll pass for test and tune. never had any problems. majority of the guys i know are running test and tune. NHRA rules change every year. just because you run at the track doesn't mean its mean its for NHRA. i ran 12 times last year and it was never for NHRA. actually i don't no anyone personally that is even registared w/ NHRA. i do this for fun not as a career. this is just me.

Whats the reason for this?

I have no idea. It was the last time I went down there and he pointed at it and nodded. I asked him if there was a problem with the afpr mount and he stated it could be dangerous and is becoming more of a regulation in the future to be mounted to the firewall?

I personally would prefer to have a solid mount rather then off of a fitting. My reasoning is because of the New England roads and think that could be why some had issues. I guess I'll have to look into the rule books although I have run my car with out problems. Good to know though.
