Waterloo,
My shifter is terribly stiff when moving it side to side. It takes to hands to go into reverse or 5th gear. No grinding in any of the gears though and it moves back and fourth easily. Do I just need to adjust the cables. Can the cables be lubricated. The car was sitting for a while.

I had a similar problem with my Talon. Check the ends of the shifter cables. On mine, the outer metal casing had broken away from the cable mounting bracket (that bolts to trans) and it made shifting into some gears nearly impossible.

My problem is that the lower radiator hose rests against the counterweight for the shifter assemble on the tranny. This causes it to be alot harder go from side to side. I need to fix it but eh I'm lazy.

It could be the shift cable i had the same prob u can check it by taking the shift cable off on both ends and pulling on it. they often fray on the inside after sitting for ahwile

I'll check out the cable and linkage for obstructions tonight. Thanks for the input.
I think that I'll install a bushing kit and replace those rubber shifter mounts while I have the shifter linkage apart in the next week or so.

Sorry about the long delay in concluding this thread.

The stiff shifter was caused by an almost seized cable.

Thanks for the reply. My car was also requiring two hands to shift into 5th or Reverse. Turned out in my case though to be that the upper intercooler pipe (victory short routed) was resting on top of the shift assembly in the car and everytime i shifted, it had to raise the intercooler pipe about an inch and a half as well. Naturallyl this led to boost leaks as well. I credit the spur of the moment hillbilly tranny shop that installed the emergency job for this, but at least I got it all worked out now.
