Extra injectors on a DSM..Anyone ever try it?

WEll, the title says it all... Has anyone ever tried a pair of extra injectors instead of upgrading all of them? I was thinking this would help get more fuel to the already lean #1 cylinder if nothing else. But the main reason i'm considering it is that i'm just broke and have tons of injectors laying around. I've probably got 4 sets of OEM green tops, a set of 720's and the 1000's that are in my car.

I do NOT want to step up to 1600's... Sure people say you can get a great driveable car out of them, but simply put i don't want one set of injectors that big (i tuned my friends car on 1600's and i just don't like how picky they are, the slightest changes makes big differences in AFR's, especially at low RPM's.

MY goal is to eventually machine some injector bosses and weld up a 2nd fuel rail on the intake manifold but i would prefer to wait until i can afford a SMIM before i do that much work. For now i need so very little more fuel to be where i want to be that i was thinking about just t-ing a fuel line to 2 extra injectors (maybe even one) to help briong my pulsewidth down a little and allow me to turn up the boost a bit more. Currently the car is tuned to 25psi on e85 with the 1000's and I"m right at 80% IDC by redline. I MIGHT be able to squeeze the last 5 psi out ofthe turbo on these injectors, but i was just wondering about extras since it's something you never hear about in then DSM community. PLus i've been wanting to work on an extra injector tube. (something from aluminum that can be spliced into the IC pipesand look good while rpoviding extra fuel.

People have done it, but typically because they need CRAZY big fuel supply. I haven't heard too many people doing it just for that "little extra". I've considered it before (mainly just so I can test that function in ECMLink). But in my case, I would probably just run a second fuel rail and a manifold with provisions for a second set of injectors. I'd probably run EVO8 injectors as primaries and some 1150s or something along those lines as secondaries. Or, on E85, maybe 950s primary and secondary.

Wait, are you considering running them all the time or switching them on as "secondaries" when fuel demand is high enough? And are you considering pulsing them along with the others or switching them all full steam? I could see issues either way with even fuel distribution to all the cylinders.

Glenn the 420a guys do it alot. But we have a kit called a portfueler made by Hahn racecraft. Basically a spacer that goes between the head and the intake that holds 4 injectors. There is also a bunch of guys that just weld bosses into the intake search Corbin's fuel setup. Also you could just add one bigger injector before your throttle body.

Yea 420as have been doing 8 injector setups for years now. You can either use portfuler or add more injector bungs into your manifold to allow 4 more injectors. This is actually not a bad way to do it as long as you can control the injectors.

I seen a turbo ford run 2 extra injectors at the throttlebody and his nitrous system was right there too.. I don't see why you couldn't... It would be pretty cool... I thought it looked sweet seeing another 2 injectors on the elbow..

Yea, i aminly want to do this to come up with a product to be able to sell to some guys that are doing NT to turbo conversions and cant splurge on a real EMS (the electronics part will have to be bought but i'm wanting to make the holder)

I've fabbed up ones similar to the link where the bolts hold the top to the bottom, but it wasn't that nice ( but it was about 7 years ago when i had a lower skill level)

I really do want to run 8 inijectors... I want either 550's or 720's on as primary and then i'll kick up the 1000's when the boost hits and things get fun. Problem is i don't want to spend the time making the stuff for a 1g manifold when i plan on either running ITB's with a sealed plenum or a SMIM, then tht's when i'll add a full set of 4 more squirters and another rail

ONE QUESTION ON DUAL RAILS!... I only have -6 line from tank to rail, will that be enough tosupport 600hp at say 95% IDC? I'm relaly only aiming for 500 max and a realistic 425 daily.

MY reason for the injectors is that my 1000's are just barely running out up top ( just by a hair) Plus i'd LOVE to have some really small injectors (maybe even 450's) for the idle and daily cruise areas (smaller injectors perform so much better at low loads IMO) Then i would havethe 1000's + the 435's/450's when i was wide open giving me almost 1500cc injector per cylinder

Interesting, are you planning to pulse those 1000cc's or just run them open on demand? Back in the day, we used to do something similar on VW 16V engines with CIS injection using a nitrous injector and sizing it through jets, it was rough tuning without any kind of instruments going only by calculations and audible knock But it actually worked pretty decent, we didnt blow up anything
