I searched and searched (vfaq, 1000q, the internet, my Chilton's manual)...I cannot find the answer to the question below...

What is the stock exhaust piping size for a '95 Talon TSi AWD?

Basically I found someone selling a true GReddy catback (he says its not a knockoff brand) with 2 3/4" piping and 5 in. muffler for $100 (gotta remove it myself from a dead '97 GSX though). Only problem is that one of the brackets is broken, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix. Is this a good deal for a 5 year old cat-back (he said he originally installed in 2001)?

I know the same trimmed '95-'98 Eclipse's and Talon's are the same car engine and drivetrain wise, but do the exhaust piping take the same routes too (meaning I should have no problem transferring this catback to my Talon)?

Also this should bolt up to a stock cat no problem right?

no becuase the muffler probly doesnt have that nice deep tone anymore since he had it for 5 years and abused it since his car is dead, second off all you would be beter off with a 3inch exhuast since your car is a turbo, 2 3/4 pieing you wont feel much of a difrence then what your feeling with your stock one.

Note: Dont always belive people, just becuase he says its not a knock off, doesnt mean it's not.

It would bolt up the same... using the same routes.

but really, if you have any plans to modify further, youll need a full 3 inch system.

and you will notice alittle bit of difference, not much but some.

i have to disagree slightly, i think youl feel more of a difrence then compared to stock, your turbo will spool up more nicely, also if he has never drove a turbo car with a 3inch cat back exhuast, he is going to love it.

stock exhaust pipe is 2 1/4. 2 3/4 is alot better than stock. You won't feel a big difference between a 3 and 2 3/4. Correct me if im wrong awd and fwd have different exhaust setups. I know that the downpipes are bent differently but are the cat-backs that same?

I'm with you Danny!
There is a MASSIVE difference between a 2 1/4 (stock) and 2 3/4 sized piping.
In fact I'd take the 2 and 3/4 over a full 3 inch.

Why? Less noise. Less Cost.
Why not 3"? more noise and I'm never gonna make 500whp on my car so I don't need it.

Also I just really don't know how an exhaust, fit for sale, will not sound as good becuase the car was wrecked? It's still a pipe right? Still round?
Maybe if the piping transformed into cardboard and had a rat family living in it for all this time it would change sound..

Also I'm betting most people who run an evoIII turbo with a 2.5" exhaust would never feel the difference moving up to a 3".
Especially considering most EvoIII owners haven't broken 300whp, let alone 350 or 400.
