exhaust inlet sizes

Well, the situation is this...I bought a Magnaflow street series 14803 exhaust for my buddies 90 talon tsi awd off of eBay. The thing is, it has a 2.25" inlet, but we did not know that his car has a 3" exhaust from the turbo back put on by the previous owner. Will it hurt performance to put it on. You can get pipes that go from 3 to 2.25 right? Please let me know. BTW the car has a galant vr4 jdm engine from japan in it and has a few small performance mods.

Yeah it's going to hurt flow a lot. Thats a huge reduction in size. A 2.25 inch pipe flows way less then half of a 3" pipe so it's gonna hurt big time. Re-sell it to a honda guy who will run a 2.25" exhaust.

Damnit, I knew someone was going to say that, but I wanted to make sure. Would this be a better choice then? It's the race series for magnaflow, only thing i don't like is the 4" tip.

Yeah that will be way better. As long as the muffler is the same size as your exhaust it will be just fine.

Alright cool, thanks. Where in TO are you from? I'm actually from Hamilton, but i'm in michigan for school, and I always go to TO in the summer on boats and with my buds in all our cars. Are there any sweet dsm meets coming up?
