OK.. I know there is a few threads out there regarding this, and the opinions are as many as there's DSM's in the world..SO.

If I don't have this strap on a '90 1G, running hacked MAF and turboback 3" catless exhaust, do I need to have this strap to give me reliable O2 readings.

I just replaced my O2 and have done everything suggested from some pretty good feedback from you guys and my FT's are off the wall rich.

I happened upon this old thread regarding the ground strap and properly grounding the O2 sensor and started to wonder, if this could be part of my problem. The only thing is, I have just spent 2 hrs reading all the threads and just when I think someone says for sure, the thread jumps and someone blows the idea outta the water.

So can anyone, conclusively say this helps or not. The only other thing I haven't ruled out is a preO2 leak, but I can't hear or see evidence of exhaust leaking in that area. ON that note, how big a leak would it need to be in order to cause the O2 to send the wrong reading to the ECU?

Don't beat my thread to death with this has been covered a hundred times before..I know it has. BUT the most current thread is over 2 years old and I'd like some current feedback.

Thanks.

From my experience it makes no difference whether it's hooked up or not. I have had four 1g dsms and none of them had the strap hooked up and I never noticed any problems whatsoever. Again this is just my opinion from my experience and I'm sure others may disagree, but I wouldn't sweat it.
