DOes anyone hav ehte numbers on EVO III cams? I see them sold as upgrade for 1g/2g and I was wondering if anyone actually done this and what they ran like?
I can get them for free almost and if its an upgrade maybe its worth it if I am gonna rip the head sometimes. I dont wanna spend all that on HKS or similar cams and I dont need no real high powered cams..but if its a good upgrade and it can be done for free..why not?

Any thoughts on this?

so what IS the difference then? IS it even an upgrade and what could you expect with a change of cams?

I understand it might not be a major upgrade of course but is it even a better cam for a modified 4G63t 6-bolt for instance?

Just get yourself a set of DKS1 Cams from FFWD. If your not looking for retarted top end and still would like a stock idle, those puppies are the way to go because they exactly the same Grind as the HKS 264/272s. Those cams go for $350 a set. Great price, great Value, and the guys at FFWD are awesome.

Of course I could by new cams from whatever company I choose but the fact that I get eIII cams for free, and all other are like 350 and up its a major difference there ;-) Thats why I asked if its even an upgrade and if it is..how much I could possible gain from such a swap :)

You MIGHT see a 2-4whp gain from the cams. It doesnt really make enough of a difference to matter. Its up to you though. If you think you NEED them and absolutely have to have them so you can have the Novelty of having EVO III cams in your car, then by all means do it.

no i wouldnt do that for such a small gain and i am definitily not one having to say I have EVO cams. I just saw it out as an upgrade and I was wondering if it really was. I guess its not and then I am not interested in them , plain and simple :)

Im apolagize then, I thought they where the same.

Nah, Mitsubishi figured that since they were going to throw 510cc injectors, EVO III 16g and a bumped up compression ratio in the EVO III motors they might as well put a slightly more aggressive cam in them to help the bigger turbo breathe slightly better in the higher rpm range.

Like I said, If your bored, got an extra valve cover gasket lying around and feel like removing the timing belt and CAS, Sure be me guest and go for it, but most people are too lazy for such a little gain.
