Hi,

We all know that the best way to go is to swap a 6 bolt, but what about the new EVO VIII engine? The internals are rated a lot higher then any 2G. If I am correct they are rated up towards 600 bhp. Is there someone trying to accomplish this swap? If so, what are the procedures and parts needed?
Thanks,

Sven

Ummmm no... Im a no0b and I know that the engine is completely reversed. I believe its on the Evo IV and up. You can swap an Evo I-III.

Eveyone always says you can't use evo8 parts. And yes i know the engine is reversed. But what if you swapped the whole engine trans and everything. You could just fab up the engine mounting points. Swap in the wiring harness and ecu. Could it be done. Maybe a search is in order.

of course this would be a very in depth swap. not for the newbie.

i think that for the amout of money and time that you would spend on doing the swap you could have a built motor that could hold up to more then 600hp. but if you have the cash anything is possible. unless you wanna do it just to do it, then more power to you.

Then the custom hubs, axles, driveshaft.....yah, this idea rocks.

The swap is more to eliminate the change of crank walk. Not to have a better built bottom end.

ANY car can get crankwalk, so you aren't saving anything, and you'll be spending a lot of money to get essentially nothing. The 6-bolt swap is proven, and inexpensive.

<--Still rockin with the 7-bolt

If you want an evo 8 then go buy one. I'm sick of reading all these retarded threads about swapping evo 8 parts. Lets see ... the engine is reversed, so that means youd have to use the whole engine, trans, t case, and I'd bet money that the driveshaft and/or rear end still won't bolt up. Leave your car alone, swap a 6 bolt, or swap an earlier evo motor, and don't post questions like this because this would be the hardest and most expensive swap of them all. Besides, who just has evo 8 parts laying around?

There was a 2g at the DSM Shootout that had an EVO8 engine and drivetrain in it. It has been done before.

You can do anything with enough money and stupidity.

its called creatative art and imagination
i mean you can just buy 1g that came with a 6 bolt motor or go sleeper and get an elantra and do a 4g63 swap

or get a corvette or go sleeper and get a ford pinto and swap in a LS-1 motor in it
its not what you should or can buy.
its what you with what you got to make it original and blow peepos mind

yup ... but an evo 8 motor is totally stupid because our old school 4g63s are jsut as strong and capable or going fast.

Like my AWD convertion :shhh:

I'm really curious if it would take that much work, mitsubishi is well known for parts interchangability. Well, that and I saw a evo 6 tommi makinen(sp?) edition motor and tranny for about $1500 on thursday. I would love to pop the hood and see that.

Well known for interchangability ? Is that why the only thing u can swap from a 2g n/t to a 2g T is the power steering resovoir ? I realize that the 6 bolts can go in a variety of cars but " well known " i would not go as far to say that. Honda takes the cake for parts interchangability.
