I'm getting a loud clacking from under the hood. As near as I can figure I have a bent valve. So I was thinking of doing a six-bolt swap. I called around and once place said they can get a six-bolt engine out of an Evo V that I could do the swap with. I've tried to find info on the Evo V engin on this sight and it seems that some belive that all Evo's came with a seven bolt. Is this true? If the Evo V does come in a six bolt, is it better than the standard 1G six-bolt?

No won't work because of the way the engine is mounted. If you want a evo motor you need one from I to III. I believe they are 7 bolt motors. Your just better off finding a jdm 6 bolt and putting it in.

This is 100 percent correct, the evo 5 motor is mounted 180 degrees from the dsm motor. If you had a 420a non turbo eclipse the swap can be done, because the 420a sits simular to the evo motor, it wouldn't be a direct boltup, but is a lot more possible than doing an evo 5 swap on a dsm.

I thought this might be the case after looking at the Evo VIII engine. Good thing I asked before buying.
