Evo III 5th Gear Swap - MPG Gains

So I've found my 96 GSX to spin quite fast going down the highway and have seen that the Evo3 (10% taller) 5th gear is a popular swap.

What kinds of MPG gains can be expected?

Well, it depends on so many variables that each persons driving style and setup and road conditions, etc. will do to change fuel economy. Having a large turbo that doesnt build boost until after 4000rpm is a good start, running speed density on a good tune will help, etc.

I have the EVO 3 5th in my transmission and I have several sets of them in the shelf. I see around a 350-400rpm drop at 75mph in comparison to the stock 5th gear.

I get good gas mileage by keeping a constant speed and don't get in the throttle really ever on the street. It's going to be tune and driver mod that will make the biggest fuel economy difference.

+1 to the above. It really helps when your cruising over 60, but getting to 60+ is most of the battle, if you can go SD and get a good out of boost tune, and keep your foot off the floor, your going to see more of a change than just swapping the 5th gear.
