Had a friend bring a question up to me, and it was: "will evoVIII brakes and MR bilstein suspension fit your DSM?" i have evo enkei wheels so obviously the calipers and rotor diameter will clear my wheels, but do the axle hub diameter of the rotors fit?

If it would just be brackets that wouldn't be problem, does anyone know the center hub dimensions of either of the cars? Also any insight on the suspension swap?

You have made statements like this several times. If it's true, I'm sure a lot of people would be interested. Obviously it is not quite that simple and you have mentioned that knuckles from a 99 Galant or a 2000 Galant are needed. You have offered to give part numbers but have not followed up. Do you have them?

Sorry about that. I just want to help. Every time when I saw the title like this. I will go post it. The part number I got is MR369425-L, MR369426-R. I don't know if it's the same part number in US. That's what I got from the mechanic. The 99 Galant here looks like 2000 or 2001 galant in US. One thing to check, you can measure the two bolt's distance that hold the caliper. The one on my car is 158mm which is wider than 2g and the same as evo8.

I just get PM from dsmtuners member. He wrote"I just talked to someone on EvoM and he told me that the Evo 8 Brembo's fit on the US Galants 8th gen (99-03) and 9th gen 04-07)." I am glad to hear that. Thanks

i am going to be doing this evo set up on my 2g gsx. i have 2g awd ss brake lines (banjo bolt type) and does anybody know if these lines will bolt up to the evo calipers (front and back)?????????????

ok, the only evo brakes that will bolt up fine are the evo3 calipers

or..evo 8 brakes are expensive.. why not get a baer kit or a wilwood or something like that?

just so you guys know, the world spec 8g galants have a different front suspension than the usdm galants.

the usdm 8g galants have the macphearson strut style suspension. just like 1g and 3g eclipses and evo's.
the evo brakes swap over with zero modification to 3g eclipses and 8g galants.

now the 8g worldspec suspensions are multilink just like 94-98 galants (7g) and 95-99 eclipses,

so all i am saying here, is you can't swap over a 8g galant knuckle cause its not the same.

the us 2g eclipse 7g galant and world spec 8g galants knuckle have an arm that connects to the upper control arm from the spindle.

whereas the usdm 3g, and 8g(galant) have the macphearson strut design were there is no upper control arm
bottom line those two suspensions are not compadable unless you are looking to repace the whole suspension with the 3g/8g suspension

unless of course you can import a set of jdm or worldspec 8g galant front knuckles

or get the calipers and brakets and discs off the Outlander turbo..and call it a day (think you need 17s though) although if you get the 2g gsx calipers, and outlander turbo brackets and discs, youll have a big brake kit right there.

THREAD REVIVE

So if Evo Brembos bolt up to 3G eclipse knuckles, with no modification, then 3G eclipse and 1g Eclipse suspension are McPherson suspension, then swapping 1g to 3g knuckles on a 1g should work?

3G knuckles on a 1G
with Evo Brembos

That should be the combination for us 1g guys then right?

While I've never seen a 1G's knuckle if it doesn't looks like the first picture
I'd say no they won't work.

Ive been on here looking to see if evo rear brembos fit 2gs, and noticed i keep seeing the fronts fit 3g knuckles. They dont. Nor would they need too. SleeperG is right. Heres what i had to go through to make it happen....

Initially the evo knuckles wont fit the strut since the width of the knuckle is 1" and the space of the strut is ~1"...barely. So trying to pry it open a bit on the car wont work since theres no leverage and the assembly kept trying to rotate.

I took it of and looked for something i could maybe shove into it....

hmmm... If tapped all the way to the bottom it might spread it open juuuust enough but i didnt wanna bother so i went bigger.

21mm's looked like the perfect fit

Tapped it in deep on the top and bottom so the whole area wouldnt be unevenly spread.
Use the 2 pair of ingalls camber bolts and voila it installs like the stock assembly.:yesway:

so reading through the thread no one really came to a conclusion... will an evo8 brake set up bolt up to a 2g eclipse?

im curious as well... my 98 gsx needs new breaks and if i could just do that it would be awesome!

The do not just bolt up but people have been doing it for a while now and there are several threads about it, you can do it with the jdm galant knuckles or with adapter brackets.

It's an easy conversion if you got the correct knuckles, not gonna go into details as it's been posted about a bazillion times
