Evo and DSM turbos

Hey guys quick question, now I know the evo 4-9 with the rotated engines (timing belt on passenger side) come with turbos that are unable to be fitted onto dsms ( without a lot of work at least) but the thing i was wondering was, if this is the case how come there are universal turbos that can fit on both dsms and evos ? Is it because of the elimination of the evo stock manifold and thus the backwards spinning turbo? Thanks

Something like a t3 or t4 turbine housing can be used on any car.

A stock bolt on evo housing will not bolt up to a dsm without making a custom manifold for it.

The earlier model evos had the same basic layout as a dsm. Thatsvwhybthe evo iii (three) model fits. Prettybself explanatory. Design changed in newer evos.

Oh ok, so it's all in the manifold.

basically you need a custom manifold, or a large manifold spacer to bolt up an evo 4-9. you must lose your power steering, relocate the alternator and slightly dent the water pipe.

custom manifold is more sensible but im going the spacer route, eventually. ill get the spacer made in the next month or so, and get some more pics taken so everyone can see the route im taking.

an evo 10 manifold with a dsm flange welded on the runners would be an option, not sure on the flange for the evo-x.
