Punctuation would be a good place to start. Checking the tuning engine management section should be your next step, there is at least one good thread on putting the evo8 ecu in a 1G. Depending on how good you are with wiring you shouldn't need much more than the ECU connectors from either an EVO8 or a 2G. Or, I am not sure entirely but I think there is a company making a 1G to EVO8 ecu patch harness.

sounds like a really cool idea. What kind of gains (functions ect) would you gain by using the evo ecu?

Why do I feel another hate thread coming on. Here goes.

Not a whole lot over ECMlink. Biggest things are the price you pay/what comes with what you pay for/amount of work you have to do to make it work ratios

It has 99% of the same functions as ECM link, SD, launch control, NLTS, full control of fuel and timing maps, boost per gear, ect. ect. (As far as I know the FPR solenoid is the only thing you don’t have control over). And it is flash programmable so all you need is a $100 cable...

But for what you pay you don’t get the nice dedicated forum so you are kind of stuck having to ask your questions in different places and there really is no one group of people that know everything about it. Software is easy enough to use but not as easy to use or as "all in one" as some of the others. There are like 3 - 5 different programs that you use to tune with depending on what you want to do.

For a 1G there is a lot of work to be done to install it... it is nowhere near as PNP as it is for a 2G.
