Evo 3 turbo

So I have heard about people putting "big Evo 3 turbos" on their DSM. I want to know, is it an Evo turbo as in the 4 door Mistubishi? Or is Evo a totally seperate company?

It is the large 16G, the turbo that came stock on the Evo III. (It's built by mitsu.)

That is what I figured. Someone told me that is the largest turbo that will fit onto a completely stock set up...

Just about. What they might have meant is that it's the largest straight bolt-on MHI turbo for the 1Gs (90-94) using the stock intercooler setup. The Evo 3 Big 16G (E3-B16G), that is. If you move up to the 20g, the outlet points downward, requiring a new compressor outlet elbow and piping. In any case, the 2G needs an install kit for any of them, due to the weird form factor of their stock t25 turbo, though they still bolt up to the stock exhaust manifold just fine.

You could aslo do a sleeper 20g turbo as well. They use the tdo5 cover with the 20g compressor , which i personally think you should not do, but hey if your going for the sleeper effect why not?

Also... they're not BIG 16g's. It' either SMALL 16g, BIG 16g, or EVO III 16g. They go from smallest to largest in that order as well.

My friend has a Evo III 16g turbo in his 1g I believe its from the 4 door, you could fit a 18g or 20g into stock configs as well.

runwithit, read the above post....

evoIII is minimally larger than the big16g the REAL advantage it in the compressor wheel, it is significantly lighter AND has a much more efficient design (staggered fins) also the turbine wheel is a different design as well. check out http://www.slowboyracing.com/evo16g.htm
