I got the laser and been thinking of getting the evo 3 gt.My question is ive rewired the fuel pump and what supporting mods would i need?Pump size could i get away with stock or would i need a 190 gph. Also what size injectors?

Thanks
Keith

One more question my screws on the fuel tank plug are shot.Whats a good "SAFE" way to get them off.A friend of mine said drain the tank and cut the out with a dremel.I think he,s an idiot wouldnt it be worst with just fumes in the tank?

And thanks for the info on that turbo.

Just get a 190 pump, its all you will ever need for that turbo and doesnt require you to get a regulator.

As for the screws, are the heads messed up in a way you cant use a tool to turn them anymore? You could possibly try vice grips and grab a hold of them to try and get them out. If you want to be safe, I wouldnt suggest using anything that makes sparks to cut them. I know someone who ground down the tops of them with a file/hack saw to get them off. You can grind them off, but sparks and gas arent the best combo.

As I have read everywhere the minimum to get the full power of the turbo is a 190lph fuel pump and some 550cc injectors. Hope that might help ya

edit: I took out my opinion

come on folks. they guys asked a question about his fuel setup for a turbo he is considering so let's not get this thread lock over a bunch of hear say like so many others. People need to stop playing the bench racing game and wait until we see more information on this turbo. So far people have been liking it from what i have seen and all we can do is listen to the people who actually own one The jury is still out so lets not pass judgement. :nono:

now to answer the posters question. The 190 will do you just fine. Once you upgrade from that though you will need more fuel. For that reason many people go with the 255 and a fuel pressure regulator so that they wouldn't have to upgrade later. If you plans are just a 16g then you will be fine.

Best of luck with your build.

Boost on......

Id have to disagree with shane. I wouldn't worry about the GT version I plan on getting it myself. http://turbochargers.com/Evo3GT.htm , they even now offer a confident 150 rebate if it is defective. Buscher and RRE both sell them and I highly doubt they would sell the dsm public a bad turbo + one has already been succesfully dynoed.

The Evo III is proven to make a ton of horsepower. The Evo III "GT" is not. So far, it has pumped out all of 280hp. That may or may not be good for the car it was bolted to, but considering what the real deal has done, it isn't all that impressive.

When the Evo III has proven to be such an incredible bolt-on, I don't see why anyone would even try a copy by another company that costs basically the same.

Bring them to the tracks. Lets see them run some 11s. :thumb:

I'd get a 255L/hr pump and 660cc/min injectors. 550s were too small for my car with the Evo III. 660s have a little bit of headroom.

What do you plan on using for fuel control with the larger injectors? Do you have an EPROM ECU? Best bet would be to get a chip made for the larger injectors.

Just so you know, a moderator (in another evo3 GT bashing thread) said anyone who says stuff like this, may be banned.

Real life experience only.

Someone actually listened?! OMG

Keep your opinions to yourself, gentlemen. People who have experience with it, post away.

Anyway who cares about what turbo, he decided with the GT so its the GT. Anyway I would personally get 660cc injectors, walbro 255LPH HP with an Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulater. That way you don't need to upgrade again if you decide the EvoIII GT isn't enough. It will be a lot cheaper to do this once. Injectors are like $50 more, the fuel pump is the same price the AFPR you can build at home or buy it from $80-200 whatever your budget is. I recommend getting a FMIC as well, it makes world of a difference.

At least have an S-AFC and a datalogger to help you tune. IF you want to dyno tune it, then you just need an S-AFC. Thats the best bang for the buck.

a 190 pump is enough for most of the people on this board, if your going with something, especially like the 16g, there is really no reason at all for a 255 unless you REALLY want it. You will need a regulator though, so extra money spent there.

Someone actually listened?!

Im a backseat moderator ROFL :shhh:

alright im sorry i had no intention to start anything i just got riled up because shane basically told him not to get the turbo he has chosen which had nothing to do with his topic asked. as i said there are many other threads about it and i should have just said nothing.

And for you EVO GT haters, visit Turbochargers

Thay have the REAL story behind it.

They also list a number of changes between the GT and a real Evo III that I feel compromise the performance of the turbocharger with respect to the real thing. I'm not a hater. I just tell it like it is. :)

Yeah im getting a little scared too after reading. To the person that asked my car right now only has a kn filter and a fuel pump rewire.I prolly had it a little over a week now LOL.And received it bone stock except filter.I also took out the air silencer.

When i pulled the turbo i ported the exhaust manifold,o2 housing, and smoothened the elbow leading into the throttle body.

Thanks for the help very apreciated.

Ok two more questions i decided to go with the evo 3 "not gt" and get it ported and a 34 mm waste gate. Will the stock 02 sensor housing fit?I seen on the ams site the had a housing that said it was for the evo 3 turbo.Could i run the 3'' one would that fit or the stock one?

Basicly what i was wondering was what exhaust stuff do i need to make it work? Also what size are the manifold studs 8mm or 10mm on my 1g?Also whats the bolt circle of the wheels and what back spacing should i get for a slick up front and skinnys in the back?

Thanks again.

Im sorry if I offended anyone on here by posting that the evogt is a chinese made piece of shit, I did not mean to offend you all. I have indirect experience with a 16g gt, my friend purchased one for his dsm and even broke it in running at 10psi for a month just to make sure, then he started happy boosting at 18-22psi, the turbo took a crap immediately, oil started puring out of it, maybe due to blown seals? shaft play up the ass! I've been running my small 16g for almost 2 years now, it came with my car when I bought it , so I cant tell you how many miles are on it, but I've put a good 25k on it without problems, Im just saying, if you decide to get a 16g , go with teh mitsubishi one, not the The BBL Evo 3 Big 16G GT
