if i were to get a evo iii engine, would my aftermarket parts be compatible with it. and aren't some evo iii engines for 6 speed?

whats up man, Im doing the evo 3 swap in my 96 GST. As far as the mods just look for 2g 4g63 parts, for the most part they are the same. The only thing Ive changed on my engine is the cam position sensor which isnt difficult at all. If you have any other questions hit me up on AIM - BigyD69 I should be online all night

Wow, i'm glad i finally found someone who is doing an Evo swap on his car. I was wondering, where did you go to find the engine to swap... and, will the Evo IV, V VI, VII VIII work also?!? Would it be compatable? Or... is only the Evo III compatable with our setups? ahh!!! Your answer is greatly appreciated!!

The Evo I-III will work in the 2g Eclipse. If you notice the IV-VIII are all 180 degree different with the turbo and intake on the opposite side. I actually found the engine down here in St. Augustine, It was kinda weird I actually stumbled into it when I was lookin for the jdm 6bolt

supposed you just wanted to use the evo 3 bottem end?
will the evo 3 bottom end bolt up to the 2g top end, without any conversions that the 1g bottom to 2g top have to go though? is it just remove the 2g bottom and bolting on the evo 3's?

ive been wondering the same thing about aftermarket part compatability bet. the evo 3 and 2g...not much info. out there though. oh btw there are no 6 speed evo 3's.

Your 2g head will drop right onto your Evo 3 block. While your at it you might as well put in some ARP head studs. Any upgrades you plan on doing just look for 2g parts. If you want EVO 3 specific parts a couple companies you might wanna check JUN or Toda racing.

You can make the 2g head work on a jdm 4g63 bottom. You will need to use 6 bolt block head studs or stock bolts cuz 6 bolt blocks diameter size is 12mm and the 2g s are 11 mm

Not all JDM blocks are 6 bolt. The Evo 1-3 are 7bolt cranks therefore he was referring to an Evo 3.

Hey great...can you guys give me some insight as to why you found this swap to be profitable. I thought that the Evo III was basically the 4g63 with a 16G turbo stock instead of the 14b. Is the block lighter? Are the pistons the same copression ratio?? etc...
thanks.

Get a six bolt. EVO1-3's aren't worth their price unless you're getting a longblock with all the goodies for a grand. Nice trannies on them though, although they need the rear end to go along with them.

i've got an evo 3 motor, and side by side with the 2g motor the blocks are diffrent.
the frost plugs in diffrent locations and so on.

It's not an EVO motor then. EVO blocks are identical to 2G blocks.
