I'm going to be putting an Evo 3 16g turbo on but, I won't have any fuel upgrades for about a month after I get the turbo. Does anyone think I will have a problem running the turbo as long as I keep the boost really low? And what fuel upgrades do you think I should get? I want to run about 20 psi. I think I'm going to go with 550's and a Walbro 190 along with an Apex'i s-afc II. I'm worried that I might need to go bigger to handle that much boost though. What do you think?

Thanks,
Corey

The Wally 190 is adequate enough, but why not just go ahead and get the Wally 255?

550's and the pump will be more than adequate to run 20psi with no ill effects once you have the rest of the supporting mods and tuning down pat. As far as for the meantime on the stock fuel system, just leave the boost as low as it will go on the stock actuator. (9~11 psi or so)

If you have access to 93 octane in your part of the woods, you can actually get by on the stock 450's and a pump for a while, just don't go trying to crank the boost anything past 19psi.

I've been on 450's, a re-wired Mk IV pump, and S-AFC for ages now with my Big 16.

190 is good for over 450hp... it will be fine, plus if you get the 190 you won't need a FPR

190 = no fpr
255 = either, depending on your car. but you're sure as hell going to be running rich as hell

i would run stock boost on an e3b16g for the time being if I were you. then when you get a pump [ i have the 190 ] go ahead and boost 16 psi. then get your 550+ and SAFC and boost 20! mwahah :thumb:

Here we go again. :rolleyes:

I know. damnit. does anyone bother to stick a fuel pressure guage in after the install of a 255? its plain sight to see that your base fuel pressure just went up...sheesh!

Well I have a 1g auto so I don't have 450's :( but I'm glad to hear I won't have any trouble with the 190 cause I don't feel like spend more money just to say I have a 255.

Thanks guys,
Corey Helton

No FPR with the 255 fuel pump here and has been that way for three years. No problems no excessively rich conditions. Before the Sheet Metal Intake I dyno'ed at 335hp on pump gas with NO problems with the fuel. I have heard that the 1Gs are more tempermental about this.

are there any differences in the 1g and 2g stock fpr? that would answer alot of questions. As i said in another thread, my base fuel pressure is noticably higher, and my partial throttle response is meh.

When I initally installed the Mk IV my base FP was right on the money with the stock fpr. That was 3 years ago. I added the B&M FPR to raise the base some, (just a temp to help the 450's out some.)

In a few weeks the 550's and a real fuel system will be installed finally. (-6 lines, Aeromotive, etc..)
