Posted this on 'Talk, but for those who don't get over there, I thought I'd post here for some additional help.

Ok, I'm sure someone has this setup on a 2g SOMEWHERE. I've looked and looked and can't seem to find any information. So, here's the situation:

I have a 2g (obviously), and will be changing engines in my car soon. It will be a 1g 7 bolt and 1g head, with a JMF SMIM. I called ETS to order new piping to work with my new Tial Q BOV and also to have a bung welded on for my IAT sensor for SD. Problem is...they've never mocked up piping for a 2g with a JMF OR Magnus SMIM. They have no idea how it'll line up, how it differs with the 1g piping they offer (which works with only the Magnus SMIM, not the JMF), etc.

So question is, who out there has a 2g with an ETS kit and a JMF SMIM? How did you get your piping to work? Pics? Thanks for any help.

I would think, you either just need a longer coupler, or a coupler with a slight angle.... And Of course a coupler to match what ever throttle body you end up using unless you stick with a DSM Turbo TB that needs an elbow, in which case you would just need a coupler that changes the angle of the piping to meet the elbow.

The JMF manifold is flanged for a 1g 60mm TB. I plan on using the stock elbow and 1g 60mm TB unless "forced" to use something else.

You could do your own custom upper pipe. Since your TB location is just going to be slightly lower I would think all you would need to do is shorten the upper pipe up before the bend a bit. This would also allow you to just weld the flange for your BOV and bung for the IAT sensor in the exact places you want them. I would think it would just take one 45* piece of pipe to redo that section. If for some reason the stock TB elbow didn't want to work with your setup, you could switch to a 1G NT 60 mm TB and just use a coupler off it to connect to the upper pipe, which might give you a little more freedom as to how everything connects. You could paint it to match the rest of your piping when finished. The only downside is that the pipe wouldn't be beaded.

Stock 2g elbow, I hope.

Anyways, I know STM Carrys a lot of different length, and angle couplers. I would personaly go the route of a coupler If it were me.

I'm trying to go with the ETS piping for the clean look as well as keeping the bead on the pipe if I can help it. Maybe I can get lucky and be able to modify a coupler to get it to work. I'm honestly very disappointed ETS hasn't mocked up piping for this situation. I'm pretty certain SOMEONE has to have this setup somewhere.

EDIT: The piping isn't painted, it's just brushed SS.

Trust me, I didn't mean to just cobble it together, you could make a pipe that would look just as good if not better than theirs.

I'd like to stay with the ETS piping. I'm not sure on any local shops and their ability to make custom IC piping. I'm just really disappointed haha.

I can't possibly be the only person with a 2g and an ETS setup that didn't go through this process.

I'm running the ETS race fmic with their piping and a JMF race smim, if you reverse the pipe that connects to the throttle elbow it lowers and moves the alignment back so that it may work with the JMF. ETS told me of this solution when I bought the fmic kit.

Just to update this thread. Yea, that's because that's the solution I came up with! ROFL

You do, however, have to cut the pipe about an inch on the side AWAY from the TB. I have pictures with the thread on DSMtalk if anyone is interested.
