erm... 96 GST seat question...

Ok. Here's the deal. Working on my husband's car and I just talked to him about the seats. I want to just get the stock buckets and bench recovered in black pleated vinyl (looks awesome!) with red piping (sweet!). He wants the car to be "tuner" so therefore it must have racing seats and just the back bench recovered to match the fronts. I was priced $750-$800 for all pieces and the guy said he usually gets them done in about a day. With racing seats, I'll probably have to find some that aren't a "no name brand" and then find brackets and modify it so it fits. That sounds like a big PITA to me. Any opinions on this? BTW... here's the seats as they are right now:

Another reason I don't like racing seats... if I am going to be driving this car at all, I have a tendency to "roll" out of the car because I am slightly pudgy and the car is really low (when compared to my truck for instance). "Rolling" out of the car kinda ruins the sides of the racing seats.

So yeah... any opinions about this at all would fantastical.

IMO s2000 seats are awesome .. not sure how much moding to brackets you need ot do though

That's the thing... I don't WANT to make brackets . I like knowing that if I get the seats recovered, then they will fit no problem

well you can recover them or you can find some decent looking ones someone selling either way would work. I'm not partial to leather to begin with really .

Uhhh... leather is a little unfriendly to my wallet Is that what's covering his seats now? Because I really can't tell they're so chewed up.

i have a mint set of the stock grey leather seats i woulda sold you for $200. if you were only closer... good luck with whatever you decide.

Well he doesn't really wanna keep the grey interior so it's probably just as well . I appreciate it though.

yeah those are leather seats . I wish you luck though . Look around for some eclise part outs around you and find some seats if you want

Hmph... garbage. Well... they are almost 15 years old (if they are the originals, which I'm sure they are) so I guess I can't complain too much. Well... whatever I do, the seats need to move back and forth and recline too because my hubby is like 6'1" + . But okie dokie... thanks for the help guys.

Best bet is to look at a used set of sparco's or something like that. I just saw a used set of black sparco torino's for $500 with silders and Scion bases. $200 more and they are ready to go with Eclipse bases. this was on TriStateTuners.com. deals are out there, u just have to snag them up. I picked up BOTH my race seats for $700-ish.

just remember that if u pick up a cheapo set on ebay its what holds u in when you are in a crash....
