i pulled my ecu cuzz i was geting the cheack engine code its leaking. so im thinking thats my problem. it just started about 2 days ago so could i just sell my eprom to some one who can fix it. and buy a non eprom im low on cash and cant buy another eprom.

any help would be great i also cheacked out the diy soldering and i dont want to chance it ive already had to solder wires on my safc and that was a pain .

make sure there is no acid on the ecu, open the ecu, and if you smell acid (i cant describe it, but youll know...) look under the capacitors and see which one leaked... there are three, and if the acid gets on any of the chips on the board, then you have to replace those too,.... my ecu was a lost cause cuz the damage was so great... but the brand new from the factory eprom ecu is very very nice...scrape off any acid you find, carefully and cautiously, first with a paper towel, then if its stubborn, maybe an exacto, but be very careful....

Don't use a knife. Use Aceton to remove any conformal coating and any acid. If you are already getting codes cause of the caps then the damage is already done. Their will be at least one trace that will need to be repaired. You should look for a local electronic shop. Shouldn't cost more that $80 to have the trace fixed and the caps replaced. Plus you know it's done right. That is if the car is still running with that ECU. If it's not their is a chance some major damage was caused and might not be repairable.

I happen to do ECU repair. Only had one ECU that was a lost cause. Crappy thing was it would run but not right by no means. Had to repair a ton of traces from someones bad EPROM socket install. Was just a mess. Anyways. I might have a Non-Eprom ECU in storage. PM me if you need anything and we can see what can be done.

i guy wants to trade me my eprom for his non eprom so i might just go that way i dont have time or money to send the ecu out and wait for it to be fixed so swaping seems fast and easy to me in less i find one in the local yard thanks guys for the help
