OK, I have searched for 5 days now and no luck. heres the prob.

Just rebuilt a 92 laser RS FWD engine. Everything is plugged in, All vacuums are hooked up per vacuum diagrams in manuals.

Now, the car will turn over but doesn't hit (fire) now before you ask, yes we have spark and yes we have fuel. Timing as far as pulleys and the belts everything is lined up perfect. after turning the engine over and over the plugs foul. So we have repleced plugs 3 times at this point but still the car does not hit. The plug gap is at .032 as per spec for a turbo and I am using Magnacore wires. The coil checks out and the Crankshaft/ cam sensor checks out as well. The engines seems to build compression but still doesn't start. This car had sit for over 2 years before I bought it to rebuild and I have checked to see if any components were missing such as relays, ecu, ect..... everything seems to be there.

Checked spark by the screwdriver method, every wire sparked. Have good fuel pressure at rail and getting gas on plugs when fouled due to not starting.

OK, here is what we have tried

Tried an ECU from another car, no change
tried new injectors, no change
tried Cam shaft sensor at 180 degrees, no change
tried new cam shaft sensor, no change
Brand new battery, yellow top Optima, red top optima ect....
Checked all connections, everything is good
tried new MAS, no change
tried new plugs gapped at .032, no change
changed temp sensor,
changed AC sensor switch,
checked timing belt, perfect
tried to roll start, nothing

still have to check compression , does anyone else have any ideas?

this almost sounds what I am going through right now! try unplugging the MAF(MAS) sensor electrical plug and starting the car... you make have to crank on it a couple of times. I did this and mine started right up. i then thought the maf was bad but I swapped in a another one and still the same effect. I just did a leak down test and i found air comming out of the # 2 injector. don't know if that will cause it not to start though. If you figure your problem out please let me know. Thanx

Guys, check the coolent temp wire right at the sensor (thermostate housing). Make sure it is connected and not grounded. If it is, then the ecu won't open the injectors.... The car will have spark, turn over, have fuel pressure ect.

Took me three days to figure that one out....

Latest update,

Re-checked timing and have found it to have jumped time.
I am going to try a new tensioner to see if this corrects the time from jumping. We have reset it twice and after cranking over a few times it seems to move.

then if this doesn't correct the starting problem its back to the drawing board

i do have a full tank but the gas has benn in there for about 2 months! it's 93 Octane. and you have to have the car running to get the ignition timing correct?

Don't confuse mechanical timing with spark timing advance (or otherways known as 'timing'). Mechanical is what you seem to keep skipping.

Sounds like you might have bent your valves. Especially since it jumped time. Try taking off your valve cover and looking at your rollers under your cams, if they are loose then your valves are bent.

Been through this one a million times. Let us know when you find out!

Just cause hes getting spark and fuel doesnt mean timing is on. Your timing can be off and that can create no compression. If u dont have compression you cant fire a cylinder. So maybe the timing is off...

When the engine turns over does it sound like its got comrpession. A way to tell, is that when u turn the engine itll just turn sloppily at one steady pace.

Put your hand infront of the exhaust, if there is compression, ull feel air coming out, if u dont then u know u have no compression.

CHeck back i would liek to know what happened and what solution u came up with ....thanks
