Hello all...

I went to the oil shop and changed my oil yesterday and was told I have a slight transmission leak and a possible oil leak.

How easy is it to diagnosis and fix either of these problems?

I second that thought. See if you can take a few good shots from different angles. Take them before wiping anything off yet if you can. Wet spots could help the users here better help you locate your issue.

Generally speaking, if something is leaking from your transmission and you have no experience in installation or removal then that is going to cost you some cash.

Second, if it is oil only, there are a handful of places it could be coming from. One which is not to difficult to fix would be the oil pan gasket if it were leaking. The others are considerably more labor intensive.

If the oil is coming out of the lower part of the bell housing of the tranny it could be a worn out main seal on the block. That would require removal of the transmission and again were back at higher expense or extended downtime at least.

I won't continue to speculate though, get some pics and lets get to helping you out:thumb:

Are you auto or standard tranny. Standard probalbly axle seals. Auto axle seals, cooler lines, trannyfluid pan. Cooler lines like to get rust holes and drip on autos.
