Engine sounds unsafe at high RPMs

Alright, I am not sure if this is just how the 4G63 is, but when I take my car to redline, when it gets to about 5k and up the engine sounds like its gonna explode. It is incredibly loud and worries me. Is this just how it supposed to be? I used to drive a civic and it was loader in higher rpms, but nothing like my eclipse. My balance shafts were removed as well, could this make the engine sound louder? Thanks.

mine does that to and i have the balance shafts and all, it's usually when in neutral, it sounds like a clanking sound

yea mines the same way I dont think it's much to worry about mine usually sounds like I at like 7k but I'm only at like 4-5k.

Mine sounds just like it should - it's a nice sounding rev all the way to 7500 (fuel cut). The only thing I can think of is an external WG will do that, or an internally gated, but externally dumped exhaust will do that... Just some suggestions. Did you buy the car used, and already modded? I have several friends that have/had DSMs and they never had any odd or unusual sound when reving high.

I had the same problem at an RPM higher than 5000, My motor will be loud and sounded like it was going to blow... I still have my balance shafts, so I found that it was caused by my Balance shaft beeing of 180 degrees, maybe that could be your problem, did someone re-did your timing belt and set the shafts wrong maybe?

if this may be the case, go to Vfaq.com, and che the timing belt guide they have, scroll down to the Balance shaft section, and you'll find an easy way to fix this problem... well relatively easy, because you'll still have to take of your timing belt...
