My bottom end is starting to have a bottom end knock. I want to have it rebuild but not sure what exactly to have done. Any suggestions? I had the head rebuilt 3 months ago. I am from the Madison area..any suggestions on a place to have my work done? I wont go back to Engine Performance and Machine.

Should i only be concerned about bearings and seals? It has 149k on the bottom end and does not burn one drop of oil during the 2,500mile oil changes.

Thanks Guys.

Forgot to mention this is for a 1995 GSX. 7bolt engine.

+1 To what ^ said.

Do you want a stock rebuild? Or do you want something that can put down 500whp? Do you want a daily driver, or a drag strip monster? If you tell us all that then we can give some suggestions on what to consider...

You can build a good oem motor that can handle up to 500whp pretty well. A 6 bolt with 1g rods and 2g pistons is a nice setup. Make sure you have it built with OEM parts, like the water pump, oil pump and bearings. A good set of used 2g pistons can be found for pretty cheap or even 1g pistons if they cant be found.

Alright. I am mainly looking for something reliable. i just want to have a 'Solid' engine. My plan for the bottom end was for bearings/seals, oil/water pump. I should probably have the rings replaced as well. I called Badger Engine earlier today and told them that i was looking for a bottom end rebuild. Mainly to have bearings and seals done. They told me it would be around 1,400$. That seems like a lot of money for just bearings and seals??

Do i need to replace things such as pistons or rods if they are not damaged?
