Is there anything wrong with just using 10w30 or 10w40 non synthetic pennzoil or castrol gtx during and after break in on a 4g63?

Using the 30wt or 40wt will depend on the bearing tolerances you set, and to a certain degree your current temps in PA. If they are tighter then run the 30 wt, looser run the 40 wt. It should be warming up enough now to not really worry about it unlike in the dead of winter.

I am personally running SAE ND 30 (non-detergent) for the first 200 miles then switching to 10/30 non-synthetic until I get 1000 miles on the motor then in goes the synthetic. My rods are .0025 (manley specs) and mains are .002. I have 100 miles on it so far and it sounds & feels excellent. I am very happy with my choice.

I would use Castrol before Pennzoil. I have always had with great results with it in all my cars and I seem to remember Pennzoil being paraffin based or something, so I would stay away from it.
