Engine life longevity

I was just wondering what were the mileages on other peoples dsm because it seems like they all poop out around 120k. If you do regular maintenance how long can a 4g63 last?

I don't know, if you feed a cat how long will it last?
I mean regular maintenance is a given, in any car. If you ignore it and your car, you should not be driving. And you car will die prematurely. DSM's seem to have problems A, because everyone modifies them and pushes there mechanical limits. B, because its 15 years old. C, because the owners before you probably ignored it and just ragged it out.
There are pleanty of DSM's pushing 200k.

Just do regular maintenance and every few nights check your oil, coolant, and all your lines. If something feels off, fix it instead of ignoring it. Maybe check for boost leaks every 2 weeks just to be on the safe side.

thanks, 200k is what i wanted to hear beacause i see dsm for sale with broken timing belts for sale all the time. thats even how i bought mine. i wanted to know because i just bought an engine with about 120k. and before i put it in im gonna change the bearings and belts. i hope i will be able to drive it daily for as long as i can.

there are a couple people on this site with over 300k on theirs. you take care of your car it will take care of you.

I just got back from 2 days of HPDE 1 and an off road excursion to see if my car will plow that Nebraska dirt as well as a tractor(it doesn't) at HMP in Hastings,NE.

I now have a little over 165k on it, got 25mpg average doing 80mph most of the way including the HPDE 1 event, using Amsoil 0w-30 with no problems including no leaks and no oil useage. These are good if you treat them well

But then again I'm N/T. Not one of those "turbo freaks"... at least not yet.
