Engine left out in the rain for 2 years....what is still good?

Ok... so... i know this will bring a tear to MANY peoples eye... but this was before i started to love DSMs. This guy gave me an 6 bolt engine (from a 91 talon) and i left it outside on the wooden pallet it came with....(takes a moment for the sorrow to subside )....

What do you think would be salvageable from the engine? (i live in Las Vegas to let you know a bit about the climate.)

I bet you could spend a year and a LOT of money trying to get that engine to run again. If thats the plan, it's probably not worth it.

probably rusted out... Maybe you could reuse the block at least, i dont know...

that engine is probably still fine, if there was oil left in it. all you would have to do is tear it down and probably bottle hone the cylinders, put all new seals and gaskets in it, and clean the block up. all the bottem end bearings would keep the crank from seazing to the block. the only problem you might have is with the cams. with out oil being pumped to them they might have some rust on them, but i would just tear it apart and check things out. it could be better or worse then you think.

yeah... i guess that would also be a great place to practice tearing the engine appart too (before i rip into mine). I actually have some stock cams that i picked up a little bit ago) And yeah...oil was left in it (and in the back of the truck it was moved in =), so, pretty much anything that's rusted is out (other than parts that can be refinished, bored out)
