Have 95 Eagle Talon TSI

My engine has been rebuilt and I am ready to install it. I was wondering what I can go ahead and install while it is on the engine stand. I would much rather install as much as possible while still being able to drop it in.

Thanks in advance

Everything. Literally. Some people think it's easier to do with the trans on even. I have never tried, but in retrospect, without a car lift, it blows trying to get the tranny up onto the motor and fit straight.

Like ^^^ said. Everything. Intake and exhaust manifold and all that, but the thing I think is the biggest gain is having the timing belt all taken care of. Just my .02.

when i put my motor back in, i had everything possible put back on it. even the trans. it slides in fairly easy. then all you have to do is secure it, hook up wires and suspension and go.

Ahh, sounds like heaven. Next time I'll be doing that. I heard/believe it may be a little bit more of a challenge with the AWD's :(

Seems like these days, with engine bays all crammed full of stuff, you can't do ANY work without the motor being pulled. Pretty sure my girls sister's Cougar had to have the motor dropped to pull the alternator, or axle or some shite. Nowadays you can't even change a knock sensor without pulling out 50 other things. Stupid.

I predict in 10 years it will take 5 minutes to pull a motor, like 3 bolts for motor mounts and one big plug for everything else. All "mechanical" work will be done on a stand, everything else will be computer/electrical issues which nano spiders will repair :D

ummm since its off.....

Intake Manifold, a nasty tubular manifold (everyone can rag on me but I went with an SSautochrome and it has been nasty, no problems whats so ever with it and it only cost me 155 shipped....thats what you talk about mom shopping) Throttle body, some pulley's, .... like everyone said, you really want to do as much as you can with it out. Its alot easier.

thanks for the help. I was hoping that you guys were going to say everything.

When I took it out I took the head off first because I thought the noise was coming from a valve. Then I took the block out.

It was a pain in the a$$ pulling the head.

I have owned the car for 6 months and spun a rod bearing after about 50 miles.

Well, I guess I can say that my experience with this dsm has been educational.

thanks a lot

It's funny how that works out. You can pop the hood and have the whole shebang sitting on the ground in less than three hours, but you pull the head first and it turns into what I can only describe as the most frustrating, messy, coolant and oil and shit everywhere suckfest known to man. I mean. ####. That. Never again. I'll yank the motor to replace the clutch. :D
