A couple of weeks ago my car began to completely cut out for a split second under partial or no throttle while cruising. It does not cut out under WOT. I began checking the normal things: plugs, wires, ignition coils, etc. Everything ignition related was within spec (the ignition coil was at the upper end of spec). I replaced the plugs with a set of new freshly gapped bpr7es's just in case.

I recently installed my new wideband and it confirmed that my problem was with the fuel system. Whenever the car cuts out it reads off the charts lean. My first thought was a clogged fuel filter. I am running a -6 an Earls inline with the 35 micron sintered bronze element. I changed the element to no avail, it still cuts out intermittently.

My logs on Link don't tell me anything that I don't know :notgood: Whenever it cuts it just reads ridiculously lean but inj duty and everything else reads normally, front O2 is functioning, etc.

I have not run a boost leak test yet simply because it is not acting like there is a leak anywhere in the system or that it is sucking in unmetered air.

My profile is up to date...any ideas?

Sounds like your just getting fuel cut. What are your settings on low throttle for fuel?

sounds like it could be a TPS problem maybe too, maybe check that out.

Have you verified that your base fuel pressure is correct and consistent? If you use DSMLink to manually turn your fuel pump on without the engine running, does the pump sound healthy (whining)? Using an automotive stethoscope or similar tool, you may want to verify that each of your injectors are firing regularly.

It sounds like you may have pretty well ruled-out any ignition-related issues, but just be aware that engine misfires will oftentimes show themselves as momentary lean conditions.

I've had a similar problem but noticed this happened a lot more commonly with my 1g mas. Once I swapped to the 2g mas I have not noticed this happen once. I'd call it hiccups because it didn't interrupt driving at all, mainly because it would happen under very light or minimal load with no boost.
Try swapping with a buddies mas for a week or so and see if anything happens.

Don't use the wideband's lean reading to eliminate ignition problems, or even a rick condition. Anytime the engine misfires it releases all the unburned fuel and oxygen into the exhaust. The O2 sensor will detect the oxygen and read lean. It will even read lean in a rich misfire condition.
