Dallastown,
Ok I have a weird problem. I currently have a 90 eagle talon that has a slow crank issue. Things i have done so far. Installed a new battery and starter. Did voltage drop checks on ground and hot wire to starter. checked while cranking all is good. Ground is good. the weird thing is if I turn the ignition key to the on position so the dash light come on and wait around a minute or so it cranks fast everytime. turn key right away and the engine cranks slow again. The only other thing that might be related is that the greddy turbo timer will start to count down when your driving down the street. I won't shut off the car when it counts down to zero just resets holds time for a little bit then will start to count down again. Check harness to turbo timer nothing obvious. everything looks good. Any ideas would be appreaciate

I think you already have an idea that the timer might be the issue, but Its hard to say. It should only count down once the run position loses voltage. Perhaps you have a worn key cylinder that is randomly dropping voltage, but the timer is keeping the engine from dieing.

With the engine in neutral/park , disconnect the trigger wire from the starter solenoid, and try putting power to the solenoid manually. If it still does it,then your left with; power, ground, solenoid, starter,or possibly something mechanical. I doubt anything mechanical would be time after ignition on sensitive. If you cannot reproduce your symptoms that way, and only with the trigger wire from the ignition circuit, then you'll have to investigate there.

Check that out and report back.

*EDIT* also when you checked the voltage drops, was it cranking slow at that time? If not, the tests were invalid. Also check to see if you have 12 volts at the trigger wire while down there.

I was invetigating the turbo timer adapter wire to the timer. I was looking for anything out of the ordinary. Unplugged the connectors now the car is cranking normal. I'm thinking the tubo timer adapter is the problem. Turbo timer still starts counting down when driving down the road but has decreased in frequency. I have a 90 eclipse fwd turbo might swap harnesses and see if that's the problem.

I think you found you problem. Turbo timer adatptor, or poor plug connections. Post the final solution for others that might be searching.
