PUMP GAS, 93 shell v-power!
 I wonder why Oklahoma doesn't have 93 v-power @ Shell?
The highest octane rating @ any Shell in Okla is 92. Yet, the Sinclair down the street has upped their super to 93. Don't get me started on the 3.2% alc. beer here, jeez! Anyway, good luck w/ the new set-up.

If you look closely you notice that there is a hole that size on the front AND the back!! One pic shows a hole with the water pipe above it, and another shows the hole with the a/c bracket there, 2 holes!!! :thumb:

Wow, I put my old 7 bolt though a lot more heart ache then that, 22-23psi on pump gas with a 50trim and 26psi on race gas and nothing blew. You must have had a poorly casted rod or you had knock and didn't know it. Either way, something let got and did so pretty well. :thumb:

 Well I hope you knocked on wood after THAT statement! Mine ####in broke when it was putting about 3-5 lbs of boost.

7 bolt can break anytime and give very little warning in advance. Mine did.

It was a 1GB 7 bolt with about 130K on it.

To be fair, any motor can break any time with very little warning.

hey man we'll have to hook up this summer .. I live about 30 minutes from naperville and 20 minutes from route 66. Nice car.

We all need to meet up @ rt. 66 this spring. I want to try and organize a meet of some kind on one of the test and tune tuesdays... a joint chi-dsm/tuners venture.

We need to get a sweet DSMTuners tent for everyone to meet around...
All the mustangs will be like "dont even mess with those dsm guys, they've got a tent and everything!" ;)

   I know the mustange guys your talkin about

Sorry bought the motor, but you got a great new setup out of it. I thought i killed a motor last week. Turned out to be a balance shaft that spit the bearings and took out my crank sensor. AMS gave me the peices back.

Yeah I was there are the opening day of test and tune last year. I hope to be there again this year. Send me a message if you guys plot out a certain day or something. :thumb:

I am surprised that the mention of a very important part for fast cars, a "Scattershield" has been non-existant.

I think it is important to use a scattershield more often in the "Recipe" of modding a dsm, espicially an older one.

I have purchased a mint Galant VR4 that suffered a blown flywheel:

Flywheel explosion

I hope that you guys are using one!

Couldn't tell ya, that was the previous owner, Bruce Kwartler. He also owns Buschur's old RWD talon, and is currently running nines!<---www.mightymouseracer.com

I have it now after it has been completly restored. Huge difference after the damage to the bellhousing, flywheel, hood, and pretty much everything else under the hood.

I for one would rather not chance damaging everything else in the event of a flywheel explosion.

I also condone the use of a driveshaft loop as well, again espicially on older cars. (1gs)

I know any flywheel can let go, but out of curiosity, any idea what flywheel that was and whether it was running a 4-puck clutch? Looks like it snapped right in quarters.

That was running an ACT2600 and street disk with a stock 6 bolt flywheel. It was a mess. I was the guy that put the car back together.

True. Mistu-matt did re-assemble the car.

It is currently being re-re assembled due to an oil leak that killed the engine a week after I purchased it. :thumbdown

But as far as the 7-bolt goes. Tought luck, but plenty of cheap to be had 6-bolts, begging to get swapped!
