Hey all;
I'm acquiring a stock block and looking to do a build up on it. I'm turboed right now and looking to get some more power. I've been searching around and haven't seen any major differences in likeness/dislikes between JE or Eagle rod/piston combo. Opinions?

I want to get the blocked bored over .20 and then looking at 8.8:1 pistons. Basically all the "incoming" is taken care of. I've got a fully built head right now, completely machined, Crower Stage 2 cams, Crane springs/retainers and all the good. Completely machined intake manifold and the bored TB. Is there any pistons that would work better with the built head?

All timing components, water pump, oil pump, would be replaced. Crank scapper would be added too, if it really does anything. Since the motor was out, new flywheel would be added also. Hell probably a new clutch again just for good measures.

I have a SFMU and either 3## or 440 FIs ready to go in and a 255fp already running. I plan on keeping the T3/4 for awhile longer since it seems to put out some decent power. However, I do plan on upgrading that to something bigger at some point. I don't want to use MS (even though I know it's the best and all that jazz) but I don't want to deal with the whole hassle of it. Not sure what size turbo I'd get

I'm trying to get this done and in by next summer.
Am I missing anything? Any recommendations? Thought? Thanks.

Why not go with pnp ms. It looks like the next best thing for your car. I would say a mahle piston with scat or eagle I or H beams. They are the lightest(in weight) combo that go for our cars. That is the combo im going with. I am going 9:1 though so i get better response.

Either JE and Eagle or Wiseco and Eagle is basically what everyone gets.

Basically the next step up after Sfmu is Portfueler, which is too expensive for my taste; especially when I know I can get MSnS for half the price.

Looks like you got everything about covered, I would recommend MS though. But if you don't want to deal with the tuning I can understand that.

It's not even about the tuning. It's more the fact that I hear you have to hook sensors up all over the place and the install is more of a PITA than anything else. Plus I don't plan on putting that much power down where I'll need something like that.

Oh and I'm getting ARP headstuds and some good headgasket. Could I run a higher ratio piston without and problems or is it better to stay in the 8s?

If you plan on turning up the boost get something to control that spark. Look into the Crane HI-6DI2 for ignition; you could get the MSD DIS-2...but they fail under engine bay temps (should be ok inside the car). It may be wise to get something to listen to knock, but that's up to you.

That depends on how good your tune is, if you were to do this I would get the MS. If not play it safe and stay with the 8's.

I was looking into the MSD systems earlier in the year. Never picked anything up though.

I've seen the PnP MS but it's not out yet. And there's really no info on it.

Yes but you said build "soon." So what are you considering soon then?

I want to have it all together in spring and in running at latest in summer.
