im building an engine
im looking to build a daily driver to also take to the track
i was thinking in the direction of:

crower rods
wiseco pistons .040 over
clevite 77 rod bearings
clevite 77 main bearings
butchered crank
unorthodox under drive pulley
moroso oil pan

im ganna start ordering parts this weekend
so i wanted to see what you guys thought about this setup

with these internals how much horsepower do you think this bottom end could be capable of?
my last question is what compression ratio piston should i get 9.0:1 or 8.3:1
and whats the difference?

all input will be greatly appreciated
thanks
josh

just woundering why .040 over. im having mine built as we speak, im using a 6 bolt block
with my 2g head with the following
clevite rod bearings
clevite main bearings
cp pistons .020 over(they said these are the strongest pistons out there for a import?)
h-beam rods
moroso oil pan
port polish head
ferra valves 1mm oversized
super tech springs
super tech retainers
ACT clutch
ACT flywheel
ss clutchline
motor mount inserts
big 16g turbo
660 injectors
theres a lot more but cant remember right now but compression ratio was like 8.5:1 bought all this so i would have something reliable but still could take to the track and beat on, well thats $4,000 later also should be coming out of the shop in 2 weeks for me to drop in. thats a lot of money spent in one place. oh they had a car similar car there in the shop that had the same internal work done but with a different turbo... AGP L2r turbo. the owner took me for a ride in it and it was nasty that thing pulled like crazy. they said with that internal setup it was good for 700hp not that i will be running that much i would be happy with 350-400 but would also probably have to run a different turbo and have alot of tuning done .

The lower compression you are running makes it boost happy. You can safely run more boost easily with a lower compression. Also guys please tell me you have ALL ARP hardware! Head studs, Rod bolts, and main stubs! These are a must when building an engine. Also drop the Moroso oil pan. Too expensive to not do hardly anything at all. Another thing why are you butchering the crank? Many people never touch the crack (except for it being polished etc.) and put up huge numbers. Also I would go .20 over because I like my cylinder walls. And hah another thing those pullies. Last time I checked they were a massive amount of money. Unless your looking to get robbed with the oil pan and pullies I would do without them. I would invest that money in a PnP head and maybe ALL new bolts and gaskets all the way around the engine. This will save you much knuckle juice. I like to do a complete rebuild not just internals to make sure everything seals perfect. Make sure to use assembly lube on your bearing and copper sealent spray on your gaskets. PM me if you need anything.

ARP'S are a must
of coarse new gaskets all around
this will be a full rebuild
nothing will be left untouched
i grew up in a mustang drag garage so i know what im doin
ive just never fully built a talon and wasnt sure of what brands are best for my talon
altho i have used bolt ons on the 4 dsms i have owned just never did a full engine build on one
the whole butcherin the crank thing im not sure of yet
they say it takes like 5 pounds off and less weight is better im lookin for somebody who has used one and get their input so thats on hold for now

your in put is greatly appreciated if you think of anything else please let me know

thanks alot
josh
