Why would my lights get dim, my cdplayer goin off and on when I hit the brakes? Also when I pu tthe key to the on position nothing elctrical works except for my boost guage? Any help would be great.

Any warning lights in the gauge cluster coming on when the car is running?

no every thing works when the car is running. just when i hit the brakes and and when the key is in the on position, things dont work

Check those battery terminals. I had that problem and i just got a new connector for the positive and tightened it down all the way. Try getting those felt pads to stop corrosion.

Its a dead/dying battery...Trust me, when I had super, low voltage and my alternator/battery was starting to go, I had all of your symptoms....

Don't buy a battery right away, go to Autozone and have them test your battery..>Tests ok, then have them charge it fully and then go test your alternator....If you need a new alt, make sure your battery is completely charged first...

If both test ok, its the Alt. fuse or alternator wiring....It could also be your battery terminals, that will be more obvious tho

alternator... when the car is creating rpms, the alternator is creating current which powers your components and also recharges the battery. when you hit the brakes, the rpms go down, alternator puts out less current and therefore your lights dim

Bolt down your battery so it can't short against the hood or strut rod.

Two VERY valid points.... My friends bought a 91 tsi awd back in the day and the same thing happened to them...eventually a brown spot appeared in the hood and they figured it out. Like a sign from god...

I would have the alt checked asap.
You can drive your car on a dead battery and a good alt but try driving on a good battery and a bad alternator...
You'll be going to the store for jumper cables AND an alternator.

thanks alot guys for the advice and quick replies, now all i have left is to get a new turbo after my 14b broke today.:barf:
