Please i hate working on electrics. So i dropped in the engine yesterday. I went to primer the oil pump(turning the engine over a few times) and the start isnt even cranking over. My driver window doesnt even go up anymore. And when i was truing to turn the starter on, my throttle cable caught on fire. Ive checked all fuses and theyre all good. Im confused :(

Sounds like something was damaged check everything, look at all wires, there could be a short, check the window fuses, they could be bad.

Possibly, must be a short somewhere, hot wires can ignite just about anything in the bay including the cover of the cable, its plastic.

It is probably the ground straps are not hooked up. If thats the case than the throttle cable was the only good ground that connected the engine to the sub frame (body) and since it is so little it heated up and caught fire from all the voltage running threw it. I would check that first but you may have melted some of the wires in your harness when that happened but you may get lucky. Hope that helps

Yeah thats what caught fire, the plastic cover. Thats the thing though, the throttle cable isnt connected to any wires what so ever so how would it get that hot??

son of a bi***! I hope that didnt melt my wires :((. I have a date thrusday and i need it to be running ha

It is connected to the engine block and to the body of the car. The negative side will travel threw metal of course and if there is not a ground strap connected to make a complete circuit than it will travel threw any metal to complete it. Thus using the inside of the cable to ground out the motor and of course then heating up from the voltage and then melting the plastic until it caught fire. If you follow the harness there are usually some straps that have to be grounded out of it. Make sure those are connected and your ground goes to all the points it needs to motor, frame, fire wall ect. Hope this helps :thumb: GOOD LUCK
