Is it absolutly needed to have an EGT guage when tuning with the afc. I am still on the stock turbo and I keep the boost low (12psi). I want to do all of the supporting mods before I upgrade the turbo so will I need and EGT with the t25?

Know, its not absolutely necessary. I like to think of it as more as a warning indicator or safety device if you don't have your logger in the car. Typically high rising EGT's is a good indicator that your knocking alot...especially if they rise to well over 900C. If your only at 12psi or so, you should be fine.

I am kind of new to tuning, but do you mean to leave the fuel trim corrections all at o%.

Yes, that is what he means. Like he said, get yourself somekind of logging software. Since you have a 2g, it will be harder to tune since you can't see real "Knock" and only Timing Advance. The onlyway to see this would be to switch to a dsmlink or full standalone.

The only thing that EGT gauges are good for is to worry you and to see how much timing the ECU is pulling. Save your money.

Violater101 is right, it's not necessary, but it's nice to have. A logger is more important when tuning an AFC. When your on the stock injectors just keep everything at 0% across the boards. When your get more fuel follow this, it's the best thing I've ever read;

The only issue I see with that is that his base fuel numbers are skewed. Granted theyre on the richer side, but I removed about 8psi of fuel via my AFPR, and most of my trims are around 18-19 % (negative) to get it back to stock like running.
