I have a 98 GST black box in my 95, have had no issues with flashing it. I bought the Speed Density ROMs from Ceddy, installed them, and have only copied my old ROM and flashed in a Ceddymod 1.9C MAF ROM with the solenoids, EGR, p0300 turned off, and the lock timing terminal on and set at 5. The injector scaling is at 554 for my 550s. I also have a 1g CAS, and it had been set at 1 BTDC to compensate for my old SAFC and pot mod. I didn't set it back before putting the new ECU. I am trying to put it back now, but as I was working and grounded the brown plug to lock the timing, the engine started idling really rough all of a sudden. I grabbed my timing light and the timing was sitting at 15+ BDTC. I adjust my CAS as far as it would go, and it won't even reached the 10 BTDC mark. It's also running 10:1 AFR...
I checked the mechanical timing. It's fine, no skipped teeth. The CAS has been installed and running fine for over a year now also. I am pretty confident it is fine, and I KNOW it's installed right. The harmonic dampener is also brand new and has not separated, and the mark lines up perfectly at TDC.
Anyone know what happened?? This is my DD and I have to get to work in the morning! I need help QUICK!! Thanks.
EDIT: I just reflashed to a basic Ceddy MAF ROM, with the injector sizing and p0300 code off. Timing is dead on at 5 degrees BTDC... Something in one of the mods I changed must have caused it, but I have no clue what would have done that. I didn't think what I changed would have effected timing like that.
FIX: Don't turn off the evap purge periphery bit. There's something associated with it that makes the timing go way off.
