Is it possible to test an ECU? Other than using someone else's ECU to see if it fixes the problem... No-one around here has a DSM that is like mine so i'm SOL on that one. I kinda don't want to spend the money for a new ECU and it possibly not be the problem!
thanks for reading :talon:

Thanks, but I have already done that. Not surprisingly everything seemed to be okay when I checked for leakage. Now i'm just praying to find something wrong with it so I can fix it and FINALLY drive the darn thing LOL

Do you get any codes? What is the problem you are having?

I got a used computer for a 96 off of www.car-parts.com for $60 plus shipping. You might look on there. Select a car like yours, then call up the place that has one (near the bottom of the price sort). Be sure to have the part number off of your current computer, as they have to match exactly. I suspect that things like power steering or not take different computers, which is why you have to go by part number.

Definately no codes. Car won't start. Sometimes injectors will kick on out of no-where for about 5 seconds. Usually hear a growling ISC. The relay by the ECU clicks but still doesn't start.

You should at least have the "I'm OK" code. I have never seen an ECU/M/whatever that didn't have an "I'm OK" code. On a 95-98 NA, this is a 55 when you do the on-off-on-off-on check. Don't know about 1st gen. If you don't get the OK code, then you either have no power to the computer or the computer is dead. If the injectors are coming on for 5 seconds all by themselves, you either have a wiring problem to the injectors (likely grounded intermittantly) or the computer is dead.

1G's output a on-off heartbeat when they are working and don't have any error codes.
Keep in mind that not all capacitor problems are visable. If you still have original caps replace them before it's too late. Once the leakage starts your talking about repair not replacement.

Thankie Thankie
but the car is fixed now, I was checking all my wires to freakin everything since I didn't want to buy an ECU for nothing and found the temp sensor wires had butt connectors on them from someone else that came off.
Soldered them wires up and it started.
