I just bought a 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
I need an ECU for it...
I have done hours of research.
My car is an automatic

1. Some people say that I can use the ecu from a FWD turbo car and some say that I can not.

2. Some people say that I can use the ECU from a 5 speed transmission, and many people say that I can not!

3. Some people say that I can use the ECU from a FWD turbo 5 speed, and again some say no.

If any of you have experience or knowledge about this Please tell me what I can and can not use!
AGAIN, My car is an Automatic tranny
Thanks

I believe that the ECU is swapable between the awd and fwd turbo versions but the auto trans and the man trans is not swabable. but good luck

thanks steve

I have another question...
Say that I put a computer from a 5 speed in my car just to see if she starts up
would this harm the car or the ecu?

as long as I did not drive it?

The manual trans ECU expects that you have 450cc injectors installed so driving the car would be a bad idea but for just firing it up to see if it starts or for hooking up a datalogger to check out all the sensors, no problem.

Did you get an ECU with the car? What was the MDXXXXXX number?

Steve

No, I got the car for $300
and the ECU was stolen so Im trying to go the cheapest route to get the car running to see if it works as good as it's supposed to!

I just bought the ECU for the manual tranny, cuz it was $110
I will just save it for if I choose to do a tranny conversion

So I finally got the New ECU in the mail
I put it in the Talon and Wont turn over,
started ripping apart stuff in the engine bay and found out that I have no spark

I called the previous owner, and he said that there was never an ignition problem what so ever?!?!
Should I just change the coil, plugs and wires?

Anything else?

It wont start, it turns over
I am getting no spark in any cylinder!

Does the CEL turn on for five seconds when you first turn the ignition on?
Have you checked both the MPI and Ignition fuses on the battery terminal?
Do you have a friend that can try the "new" ECU to make sure it really works?

Once those are verified good you should check the CAS to make sure it's working, check at the PTM and Coil to see if your getting any signal and that both have power.

Steve

Plug in your 5spd ECU and see if you have spark. If so ,get a set of 450 injectors and be happy. It'll still run pretty good with the stock 390s.If you don't have spark with either, make sure your timing belt turns the cam .I had one that ripped the teeth off the belt just at the crank gear and the cam was'nt turning so no signal was being sent from the CAS even though the engine sounded like it was turning over.
