Ecu Question-- Important!

Ok, after all the controversy, the picture below is what ive pulled and understood to be my ecu... according to all the articles i read.... it was under the hood in front of the strut tower... Im having a problem here... most pics and descriptions ive read show one silver looking box thing..... mine however isnt.... as u can see... what the hell am i looking at, and which is the ECU, and is it EPROM, how can i find out? Some please help me..... Thanks, Steve

yeah it looks ridiculous but according to some people on here, one or both is the ecu..... under the hood and in front of the strut tower..... the car is a 1995 Eclipse FWD non turbo.... if anyone knows, has the book, or has dealt with this, LET ME KNOW PLEASE!!!!! thanks

I am assuming that you have a 1.8L engine. It would be helpfull if you would put a year and model spec on your profile.

you posted while I was posting. The other box is most likely the TCU. Do you have an automatic tranny?

its an automatic trans yes.....

but is this even the right thing? ive been looking at postings all night, and seen nothing like this..... and if one is the ecu, and one is for the trans, which is which...?

The upper one is your ECU, the lower for your auto tranny.The reason yours looks different is because it is a chrysler ECU vs. the Mitsubishi ECU's your used to seeing.The heatsink is there i assume because your ECU is under the hood instead of inside the car, so it has to dissperse heat.As far as i can remember the 2g n/t ECu's are not chippable (like an EPROM DSM Ecu) but to make sure you should check out 2gnt.com forums.

ok that would explain things... just one question.... and i know they're all inter-related but y would the be the chrystler ECU in a mitsu instead of a mitsu ecu in there? (just wondering?)

The ECU should be found under your shifter inside the car you have to take out the panels on the sides and you should be able to see it from there. An ECU is small its just a metal box. When i took mine out my laser that's where it was atleast and it was a mitsibushi motors ECU i dont think they have chrystlers. Anyways that's where mine was but i have a 5-speed.
