alright i was having a REALLY bad studdering problem with my dsm. i first thought it was fuel related so i started messing with afc. no matter how much fuel i added or took away it still studdered. i then replaced my spark plug wires and still nothing. after that i swaped coil packs, power transisitors, and spark plug wires and tested it each time after i installed each item and the problem was still there. after that i checked all my connections for my studder box and afc and all was good. so finally i swaped ecu's with a buddy of mine and BAM my car works good again! the only problem is that the ecu isnt a eprom and i no longer have a chip to compensate for my setup. i have misplaced my stock chip but if i find it ill swap it out with the one thats currently in there.

thanks in advance

Could you explain what you're hoping to get for a response to this post? I don't see what your question is exactly. It just seems like a neat story.

Well to make things even more crazy is the fact i didnt adjust my tune with my chip at all and the car is running better? all my fuel trims are now maxed out pig rich also. i just dont understand.

i was also looking to see if anyone has ever seen a chip actually go bad. i was talking to my teacher the the other day and he said it was very difficult for a chip to get burned up but it could happen. he also said that there is a way to test the chip but tool needed to do so is very expensive....

also sorry about the post above i was kinda in a rush trying to write it...

It's pretty rare for the chip to go bad. When they do it's even rarer for them to be bad and still start the car. It's possible that a bit wasn't burned completely and flipped but the odds are higher that it would be in the code rather than the data and cause the ECU to crash rather then act up.

i did burn up an ecu wit this chip in it once before and there are some burn marks on the chip from when this happened. i guess i have to look around for the stock chip. i looked at the board and nothing seems to be fried or anything. no weird smells either.

i guess its a good excuse to waste the money on another chip (if its the chip) with the pk elimination code....

Ya, I know.:nono:
Your buddy was real nice about you frying his ECU. I just consider you a good customer :)

I don't think you damaged the EPROM chip when you blew the BCS driver. If it was original frol Keydiver you can just pay the upgrade fee and get a new one. If it wasn't let me know.

HEY! he was the one who told me to wire my(at the time) one slim line fan to the BSC. he never told me he didnt use the ground off the bcs. what a punk! haha....

as far as i can remember there has always been a slight studder ever since i had the eprom in....
