Ecu Common Error CEL problem

On my way to the track today my check engine light came on. I had my laptop with me and check the DTC and nothing showed up. I plugged in the Datalogger and it read Ecu common error and also Serial Com Error i think it was. It comes on and off. As im driving it will come up for a minute or two and then start flickering and go off and then repeat later. I checked my ECU harness and everything seemed ok and checked the Datalogger Connector and that seemed ok as well. What else could be causing this to come on and off like that and not be reading through dsmlink?

I might have figured it out. I guess Ecmlink will display the chk engine light to warn the driver of either high coolant temps or knock sensor so im told.
