The question: Is the ECM OK? With the ignition key on, it flashes the fast on-off at the diagnostic connector. However, when cranking the starter, the diagnostic connector has no output/flashing. Release the key from "start", and the fast on/off flashing resumes. I can't get the car to run, so I don't know if the no spark is caused by a failed ECM or some other component. I have no stored codes. Can someone tell me if they still get a fast flash on the diagnostic connector when the starter is engaged?
'92 Talon 2.0 n/t automatic. 104k. My daughter drove it to school, it ran fine. She stopped on the way home from school at the grocery store, and the car wouldn't start after she shopped. Had it towed home.
No spark! I've hooked my inductive timing light up to all four plug wires and cranked it, but no spark on any of the four. We haven't owned the car too long. It has new plugs, and a new BISS o-ring. It's been hard to start. I did spray some CRC intake cleaner in the intake a couple of nights before this, but it ran better after that.
I've looked inside the oil cap, and when the car is cranking, the cam is turning, so the timing belt isn't broken.
Do you think it's the ECM? Crank sensor? Coil? The coil seems to meet the resistance values specified in the manual. What would you check next?
Thanks,
Rodney

I have a 91 Talon awd turbo..My is going thru the same pain..Take out the ECU and see if the capacitors have leaked. My car had same trouble.I opened ECU and found a mess. The ECU tells the crank sensor to sense cam postion.Let me know if they leaked.I know some one online with alot of parts for that car.I just bought an ECU from him.
