eclipse 97 2.0 ecu on eclipse 96

Can I replace the ecu, wire harness and sensors of a eclipse 97 to a eclipse 96 both are dohc 2.0? or do I have to do a engine swap? thanks in advance

Yes, you can. You leave the crank sensor the way it is. Since all the 2g models use crank sensor. Open the valve cover of the 96 and check if theres a place to bolt the 97 sensor. If there is, then your good to go. If not, then you will have to stick with the cam sensor. Which is not hard to do, just change the 97 clip (black clip for cas on left side) to a 96 clip (on the right side if you are looking at the motor). If you do not mind me asking why do you want to change all this?

my car wont turn since last year and im desperate to have it running up again, its a electrical problem and nobody has been able to fix it, and I buying another eclipse at a good price up and running, the thing is that the paint is all messed up on the one im buying and I want to use my car body anyways : )

Yes, you can takes around 30 mins to do it. Start unpluging the clips from inside. Then, start on the under hood harness. Unplug everything and pull the harness from outside of the car. The engine harness divides to two sets, one on the firewall for the selinoids and the other for injectors, coil pack, tb sensors, speed sensor, etc you get the point. When you put the new harness, make sure you DON'T forget the ground from inside if the car and same to the ground on the firewall.
